Welcome

‘A Beacon of the Community’

I consider it an absolute privilege to be the Interim Principal of Leeds East Academy and to lead a school community where every child is encouraged to thrive.

Leeds East Academy is a “beacon of the community” (Ofsted, 2024). We are a warm, inclusive and ambitious 11–16 school where we believe every child can succeed. We are proud of our remarkable students, our dedicated staff, and the strong partnerships we share with families and the wider community. Together, we have built a culture rooted in high expectations, care and opportunity.

Our Core Values, Resilience, Integrity, Trust and Ambition, are at the heart of everything we do. They shape our curriculum, our pastoral systems and our daily interactions. We are committed to ensuring that every student is both supported and challenged to achieve their very best. Whether in the classroom, through personal development, or via enrichment opportunities, we work to develop confident, respectful and aspirational young people who are ready for the next stage of their education and beyond.

We are proud to serve a community full of strength, resilience and potential. Relationships matter deeply to us. We work closely with parents, carers and local partners to ensure that our young people feel confident, valued and supported. We want Leeds East Academy to be a place where everyone feels they belong, a place of encouragement, understanding and opportunity for children and families alike.

Our inclusive culture ensures that every student is known, supported and guided. Ofsted recognised the strong sense of community within the academy and the positive relationships between staff and students. This culture underpins strong behaviour, purposeful learning environments and a shared belief that success is possible for all.

As part of the White Rose Academies Trust, we are also committed to investing in our staff. The Trust provides nationally recognised qualifications and dedicated time within the working week for professional development. This ensures our teachers and support staff continue to grow, bringing expertise, energy and innovation into the classroom for the benefit of our students.

Leeds East Academy is a school with ambition for our students, for our staff and for our community. I warmly invite you to visit us and experience first-hand the culture, care and aspiration that make our academy such a special place to learn and grow.
