Year 10 Well-being Workshops

This term, Year 10 students attended workshops on themes such as ‘Pornography’, ‘Pregnancy & Abortion’ and ‘Alcohol & Sex.’

The sessions are designed to develop students' understanding of Leeds East Academy's British Values, to promote ‘an appreciation that living under the rule of law protects individual citizens and is essential for their wellbeing and safety.’

Students discussed the pressures that can be used positively and negatively to influence others in situations involving risk related to sexual health. They also developed their understanding of relationships and the necessary skills, which have to be learnt and practiced for personal well-being. They were made aware of the characteristics of positive relationships and aware of exploitation in relationships.

When exploring issues around alcohol, sex and STIs, students took part in workshops to assess the benefits and risks of health and lifestyle choices and the short/long-term consequences for the health and mental and emotional wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.
