WY Playhouse Showcase Performance

Year 10 Dancers Perform at the North's leading producing theatre
This term our diligent dancers from Year 10 have been working with a professional choreographer from Phoenix Dance Theatre to produce a performance for the Let’s Get Lost Festival.
This festival forms part of West Yorkshire Playhouse’s Open Season, where groups from across the city are invited to showcase their work in the Quarry Theatre. This was an amazing opportunity for our students, as the piece they created was performed with a live jazz and rock band – an experience that is very rare even for professional dancers. Music was provided by the remarkable Garforth Jazz and Rock Band who treated audiences to an outstanding concert in the first half of the evening’s programme.
Ms Spencer-Matthews was exceedingly impressed with the resilience of our students: "Not only have the girls worked really hard after school over the last six weeks to bring this piece together, on the day they worked tirelessly – attending professionally-led dance workshops and rehearsals – demonstrating focus and commitment at all times."
The feedback the show received was fantastic and we are looking forward to collaborating with the Let’s Get Lost Festival and Phoenix Dance in the future.
