Driving forward our Ethos & Values - Leeds East Academy's Head Boy and Head Girl

Leeds East Academy has been enjoying a transformative period under the leadership of its new principal, Mr Stokes. Supporting his programme for school improvement are the school's Head Girl, Jo Jo, and Head Boy, Joe.

Our student leaders play a vital role in our school community; voicing the views of pupils and promoting our core values, whilst improving learning experiences for all students and staff.

Both Jo Jo and Joe are representing Leeds East Academy at The We Awards this year, which is a ceremony that celebrates a year of social action that has transformed and changed people’s lives. The programme aims to aspire and drive young people into taking on challenges that not only better themselves, but also those around them within their local and global communities. Jo Jo and Joe will be returning to the Academy, inspired and ready to drive this forward throughout our school community.

Jo Jo and Joe said: "Every day we believe each student should do a good deed for our school community, whether it be picking up some litter and putting it in the bin or supporting a friend in need. Mindfulness and support has a direct effect on other people around you, and you will find that other people help you in return."

Mr Stokes adds: "Responding to the needs of our students is very important to us at the Academy and I meet regularly with Student Council to ensure that we are doing our utmost to provide an exceptional learning environment for every young person in our school community. This is a collaborative process between staff, students and parents; our Head Boy and Head Girl are integral to our school improvement programme, voicing the views of our young people whilst driving forward our newly-established Core Values in our day-to-day activities. It is a pleasure to work and develop solutions with Jo Jo and Joe, to reach our shared goal of outstanding."
