Year 7 Saxon Shields

Year 7 History students recreate the past
Year 7 students at Leeds East Academy have been studying the Battle of Hastings during the last half term.
The students were tasked with researching and designing a Saxon or Norman shield, as well as writing about their battle tactics.
The History Department were delighted to see a group of dedicated students disguising themselves as a Saxon Hoard. Many students went above and beyond by not only designing their own shields but they made them too.
Mr King said: “I felt proud to show off the students’ outstanding work to everyone who was ‘lucky enough’ to walk pass my classroom last week. A special mention goes Joshua who crafted a full-size wooden shield!”
