Reassurance to families
We appreciate this is an uncertain time for all of us and we would like to thank all our families and students for their support at this time.
Please continue to visit this page as we will provide daily updates with regards to how we are responding to the Coronavirus.
Important Message from West Yorkshire Police
We have been contacted by West Yorkshire Police, Leeds Youth Crime Prevention Office with the following message -
It appears a number of fake emails are circulating with a message similar to the below:
If your child’s school is closed and your child is entitled to free school meals; then to send your bank details to the school and they will help you with funding while schools are closed.
The police have informed us that this is clearly a simple and very effective fraudulent scam. As an academy we would like to reassure you that we would never ask anyone for their bank details to be sent to us in this manner.
We sincerely hope no one in our community has been victim to this, but please contact us if you feel you have been victim to this message.
Coronavirus Update (Friday 3rd April)
We are now coming to the end of our second week of academy closure and approaching what would have been the Easter two week break. The current situation is new to everyone and we appreciate that this is a difficult time for all of us.
We know that our families (and our staff) have a lot to deal with and that you are probably juggling work, childcare and also caring for members of your family who may be feeling anxious or unwell. We are also aware of the strain that isolation can have on family relationships when we are all constantly in the house together for such long periods. Many of you also have additional concerns to deal with like financial worries or existing health problems.
We want to reassure you that the wellbeing of our students, staff and community is our number one priority. We have put together a Family Bulletin with lots of advice, tips and help to support wellbeing during this period of isolation and to provide other information which we feel may be of use/interest at this time. Click here to download our Family Bulletin.
Home Learning
Our aim with home learning is to help provide structure and continuity of learning by providing work, resources and support for students to complete at home. If students are struggling to keep up with the amount of work which is being set, please tell them not to get stressed about this. We realise that students work at different paces. Some people deal with the worry of a situation by keeping busy and filling their day with online classes, whilst others find that adds pressure. We ask that students just do the best that they can but then, it is just as important that they also spend time doing other things, away from school work, such as reading a book, baking a cake, going for a walk (once a day, close to home, for exercise as advised by the Government) or take a look at the links in the back of our Family Bulletin for other ideas of enjoyable things to do. We can confirm that no additional work will be set during the Easter break.
Safeguarding
We want to ensure that all our students and their families are safe and happy during this period of uncertainty. If you have any concerns about your child, your family or somebody else in our community, please email lea-safeguarding@whiteroseacademies.org.
Finally, a big thank you to the teams of staff who are keeping our school provision open for those who need it, and to those at home who are learning all sorts of new ways to engage and support our students at a distance. Please keep checking our social media to see a number of staff videos which will hopefully brighten your day along with important news and advice which we will continue to share over the coming weeks.
May we take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Easter break and to remind you that we are here to support our school community in any way we can during this uncertain period. If you need us please either ring the academy on 0113 273 1964 or email us at info@leedseastacademy.org.uk.
