Principal's Update
As we are approaching the end of this academic year, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate with you and share with you some of the year’s highlights and the fantastic feedback from visitors to the school.
Over the course of the year we have had numerous visitors from different schools across the country, who have heard about the exceptional work taking place at Leeds East and wish to see what we have achieved. Please see below the highlights of the fantastic feedback they have given us in relation to the school and our students.
Your seven core values are alive at school. Pupils are developing resilience and confidence. They show respect for one another and are becoming increasingly ambitious and positive. They are developing a thirst for excellence as they mirror their school leaders. They are punctual to lessons and to school.
Not one stone is left unturned and you exhibit a relentless pursuit of excellence that is mirrored by the trust and staff at the school
LEA has a very positive and welcoming environment. At the start of the day, staff are visible and present, ensuring that students are quiet and orderly as they move around the academy. Classrooms celebrate the work of students.
From 2016 to 2018 the number of students on role has grown significantly. The school had 440 applications for just 180 places in year 7 for the coming academic year. This shows that Leeds East Academy is clearly becoming the school of choice for the local community due to our high expectations in terms of behaviour for learning, attendance, uniform and progress.
Due to the changing reputation of the school in the local community and its growing popularity there will be a number of changes made to the building over the summer to accommodate our growing student body. This is so we can keep our pledge of highly personalised Teaching and Learning by ensuring we are able to maintain our average class sizes of 17. In addition to this we will also be expanding the canteen to allow adequate space for students to dine in. To achieve this we will be creating;
- 4 new classrooms with state of the art technology
- An expansion of the dining room to seat 360 students
Results day takes place on Thursday the 23rd of August and we will look forward to welcoming our year 11 leavers back in the academy to collect what we are confident will be record breaking results for the school. Our year 11 students were a phenomenal year group whose hard work and commitment we are sure will come to fruition in the form of an excellent set of results. Letters will be sent home to parents outlining the arrangements for collection of results during the summer holidays.
Following a very successful consultation with parents in relation to extending the school day, please see below the finalised 2018.19 timetable which will take effect as from the start of term on Thursday the 6th September.

Please make sure you are fully aware of our expectations in relation to attendance, behaviour and uniform. Our policies in relation to this can be found on our website on the links below (Insert Links). Please also be aware that consequences will be issued, as stipulated in our policies, should your child chose not to follow our expectations. We have great ambition for your child and will do everything we can to ensure that your child is successful, however, we ask for your full support in ensuring our systems and policies are met.
Overall it has been an incredible year and I could not be more proud to lead such a wonderful and diverse student and staffing body. I would also personally like to thank you all for your overwhelming support with regards to this and your clear commitment to ensuring your child receives an excellent education.
