As part of Mr Stokes' drive to ensure that Leeds East Academy delivers the finest education for our students, this week has welcomed the arrival of seven new members of staff to the Academy.

Performing a variety of different roles within the Academy, ranging from Learning Mentor to Assistant Principal, the new team are in place to ensure that the needs of every one of our students are met through reductions in class sizes and the introduction of new levels of student support and guidance.

Mr Stokes, Academy Principal, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our new colleagues to Leeds East Academy. All new staff undertook an extensive interview process and were the stand-out candidates in their fields. We are delighted that after a long wait (since October Half Term) we are now able to see our new colleagues working directly with our students, enhancing their learning experience and ultimately helping us to ensure that we meet our goal of being an outstanding school in the next three years."

As part of a continued investment in the students of Leeds East Academy, the school will be welcoming a further four colleagues in Easter and several more in September 2017.

Mr Heys joins us as Assistant Principal with responsibility for Science. Before joining us, Mr Heys worked at Todmorden High School, a very the high performing secondary school which has recently featured in the Parliamentary Review - a very high honour indeed. Mr Heys has led transformational improvement in Science at Todmorden and we look forward to embracing the changes and improvements that he will bring to us at Leeds East Academy.

Miss Galley joins us as our new Year 11 Leader. Miss Galley has a great deal of experience working within a pastoral role and comes from an Outstanding Trust (Tollbar Multi Academy Trust) in the North East. Miss Galley has got straight to work getting to know our Year 11's and has exciting ideas about how we will get the best possible outcomes for our students this year and next.

Mr Harness joins us as Lead Practitioner for Numeracy and is also a fantastic addition to the Mathematics team where Mr Harness will be a Maths Teacher.

Mr Balla joins us as Lead Practitioner for English and will join our English team, teaching a number of our Year 11 students, working hard to get them ready for their exams this summer.

Miss Smith joins us as Lead Practitioner for Literacy and will work with all of our students to promote reading and other areas of literacy competencies within our school. Miss Smith will also work as part of our English team.

Mr Walker joins us as a new English teacher. Mr Walker completed his teacher training at Dixons Academy and was highly successful, demonstrating an excellent pedagogy and approach to his teaching.

Miss Holmes joins us as Learning Mentor for Years 9 and 10. Miss Holmes will also be running our school Library two days a week.
