Leading Teaching and Learning

Developing excellent Teaching and Learning at Leeds East Academy is something we are extremely passionate about. We fully understand how important exceptional teachers are in securing excellent progress and results for our students.
As part of our drive to be outstanding in three years’ time, a key priority for us is to ensure we recruit the best possible teachers to deliver excellent lessons to our students whilst supporting staff development. This is why we are thrilled to be expanding our Teaching and Learning team through the appointment of four exceptional colleagues.
Ms Carrie, Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning, will be leading the team and is extremely excited about the increased capacity they will bring to developing pedagogy. She commented: “An excellent teacher can have a significant impact on a child's development, progress and future ambitions. This is why we are delighted to have appointed four Lead Practitioners to take up posts within the school who will be integral to driving forward the quality of Teaching, Learning and Achievement at Leeds East Academy. Our new colleagues are joining us at an extremely exciting point of our journey and will lead on developing and embedding excellent teaching practice in the Academy, in addition to having specific areas of responsibility to develop numeracy, English, literacy and Science across the curriculum.”

The new members of the Teaching and Learning Team are:
Mr Balla, Lead Practitioner English whose role will provide significant support to the English team in terms of developing challenging schemes of work and forging links with our feeder Primary Schools.
Ms Smith, Lead Practitioner Literacy who will have responsibility for driving forward the Literacy Strategy by improving the accuracy of writing, speaking and listening in addition to promoting our love of reading in the Academy.
Ms Haley, Lead Practitioner Science will be supporting the development of Teaching and Learning and collating high-quality training materials to support staff with their own professional development.
Mr Harness, Lead Practitioner Maths who will be developing our Numeracy Strategy by working with Area Teams to strengthen the teaching of numeracy across the curriculum.
Leeds East Academy would like to take this opportunity to welcome these new leaders of learning into the team. The school is greatly looking forward to seeing the impact they will have across the Academy and wider school community.
