GCSE Results Day at Leeds East Academy
This morning saw Leeds East Academy hold a celebration assembly for our Year 11 students, allowing them to look back at all they have accomplished during their time at school. Following this, staff celebrated with students as they received their GCSE results.
This year we are reporting our best ever results, with a significant improvement in attainment across the curriculum with 52% of students securing grades 9-4 in both English and Maths; an 11% improvement in the number of students achieving standard pass grades in these key subjects. In addition to this, 33% of students achieved the higher national standard of grades 9-5 in both English and Maths, which has improved substantially by almost 10% compared to previous years.
Our staff were grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate with students today and would like to congratulate them for all that they have achieved during their time at Leeds East Academy.
Miss Carrie, Principal, said, “We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students following two of the most challenging years for their education. Throughout this period of time our students have demonstrated incredible tenacity and resilience to complete their education with integrity, to secure a fantastic set of results which each and every one of them deserve. What they have achieved in the current context is inspiring and we thoroughly enjoyed celebrating with them today.
“A huge thank you to our exceptional team of staff also who have demonstrated nothing but absolute commitment and dedication to supporting our students throughout the pandemic to secure a wonderful set of results.”
Mr Wilcocks, Executive Principal, commented this morning: “There is no doubt that the grades achieved by our students at Leeds East Academy are thoroughly deserved. The last few years of study during the pandemic has presented so many challenges for our young people, but their resilience and determination, combined with the hard work, unconditional care, and resourcefulness of staff, has resulted in a great set of results.
“There are so many personal triumphs of which we are so very proud. On behalf of the Trust, I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to students and staff for all you have achieved, as Leeds East Academy goes from strength to strength.”
Well done to all our fantastic Year 11 students. Remember, Once White Rose, Always White Rose!
