Christmas Hamper Project

Leeds East Academy students have extended their traditional Christmas spirit this term, by distributing food hampers to those in our local community who are living independently at this time of year.

Through coaching groups, the school has been collecting long-life items throughout this term and on Thursday 8th December, South Seacroft Friends & Neighbours collected 41 hampers from the Academy.

South Seacroft Friends & Neighbours are a charitable organisation based in South Seacroft, Leeds. They aim to provide a range of services and activities for older people in the community, helping to maintain independence by providing practical help, advice and support. This essential project is looking to improve the quality of life for the elder population.

Mrs Mumby, Vice Principal, said: "This is an important incentive we support each year for our neighbours. Thank you to all of our students and staff for donating digestive biscuits, mushy peas and more in this great project which directly benefits our local community."

Mrs Mumby also thanked Mrs Batty and Mr Longley's coaching groups who took the joint prize for outstanding team effort.

Acting Principal Mr Stokes added: "We are very proud of our coaching groups, who have been working together to directly benefit others this Christmas. Special thanks to Mrs Mumby for directing this very important project."
