Barcelona 2018 Trip

A proposal for a uniquely funded experience

At the conclusion of this transformative year at Leeds East Academy, Ms Widnall - Assistant Principal for Teaching, Learning, Assessment & EAL, held the initial Barcelona 2018 launch meeting with parents.

The trip is proposed to take place in June 2018, after the GCSE exam season and before end of year examinations. The duration of the stay will be 4 nights - 5 days, flying from a northern airport and students and staff will be staying in a central hotel with breakfast and dinner included.

Ms Widnall said: "The excursion promises to be an exciting opportunity to practice Spanish in an authentic environment, which is so important with the new GCSE specification centred around the spontaneous use of speech. Even more exciting is the fact that Mr Stokes has confirmed that Leeds East Academy is able to subsidise the trip by £300 per student to reduce the cost to between £300 and £370. There is a further attendance incentive of an extra £150 off the trip, for any student who can maintain 100% attendance next academic year from September until departure....what an opportunity!"
