A Cracking Christmas Concert

To finish off a fantastic term at Leeds East Academy, over sixty of our students performed a range of Dance, Drama and Music pieces to an audience of family and friends, including students from Parklands Primary School and our own Year 7 and Year 8 students.

The show kicked off with a highly detailed and thought-provoking contemporary Dance piece that was choreographed with Phoenix Dance Co. We were then treated to some wonderful singing from our school choir that really got us all in the Christmas spirit.

Many of the acts that performed had worked on their pieces independently and in their own time, such as our very own Year 8 band 'The Kids in the Cupboard' who performed a great rendition of the song 'Riptide'.

Our Year 7 street dance troupe brought the house down with a powerful performance choreographed by Miss Manners. Parklands Primary staff were blown away by our dancers saying how professional and energetic the girls were.

The show closed with Leeds East Academy Drama who performed a comedy of their own devising, Santa Saves the Day. Mrs Spencer-Matthews has been wowed by these students every week for their commitment, enthusiasm as well as their brilliant acting skills.

Mrs Spencer-Matthews said: "All in all the show was a resounding success and we can't wait to get working on the next one - Hairspray, which will be performed in March 2017. We'll see you there!"
