Outcomes 2020/21
The following provides an analysis of the Leeds East Academy outcomes for Year 11 students entered for GCSE and vocational qualifications during the 2021 summer series. As announced on 4th of January 2021 by the Prime Minister exams in summer 2021 would not go ahead as planned due to the disruption caused to education by the pandemic. On 13th January, the Secretary of State asked Ofqual to jointly consult on alternative arrangements to award grades. The consultation ran between 15th and 29th January and received over 100,000 responses. Following the consultation, exam boards asked exam centres to generate, for each subject, teacher assessed grades for their students. The grades for students were awarded following careful review and collation of a broad range of evidence from each subject studied by the Year 11 cohort.
A robust process was undertaken prior to submission of the Centre Assessed Grades which was overseen by the Trust Executive Principal and members of the LAB. In addition to this a sample of students work was Quality assured by both AQA for GCSE and Pearson for Vocational courses. There have been no amendments made to our Centre Assessed Grades by either exam boards following this process, neither were any further recommendations made or concerns raised.
The process that was undertaken prior to submitting the Centre Assessed Grades was reported on, discussed and interrogated at SLT, Trust and LAB level. We are confident that this process has provided coherence, transparency, rigour and challenge and was centred upon the principle that all students received grades which were an accurate representation of the level at which they were working.
There are no school performance tables for the academic years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and absence of exams.

Progress 8 and Attainment 8
The English Baccalaureate, or EBacc, is a measure of how many students achieve a good GCSE pass in six core academic subjects: English, maths, history or geography, combined science (which counts as two passes) and a language. In addition, students must take both English language and literature, although they only need a grade 5+ in one of them.
