September's new starters
Your next step to Leeds East Academy
As a Senior Leader with responsibility for Transition from Year 6 to Year 7, March is a very exciting month for Ms McMillan.
Ms McMillan writes: This is the month in which we receive the list of children that will become Leeds East Academy’s Year 7 cohort in September 2018.
This year has proven even more exciting than most. At Leeds East Academy we currently have 180 places for Year 7 students, and it gives me great pride to let you know that we had over 400 families preferencing the Academy as their first choice of secondary school.
Now begins the work on supporting Year 6 pupils and parents in transitioning to secondary school. We have already began to make contact with the schools of those students who have confirmed their place and visits to the primary schools will begin this week.
Mr Burton, Transition Leader, commented this week: “I am really looking forward to visiting every child in their primary school. I am also really proud that there is such a buzz in the community, with parents expressing their relief and delight that their child will be coming to Leeds East Academy.”
In addition to the visits to Primary schools, our Transition Day is on 28th June, with every child attending LEA for the full day, experiencing lessons and meeting key adults. Please also watch this space for details of a Welcome to LEA evening for parents in the next few weeks, which will give the opportunity to meet the team and ask any questions you may have. Finally, we will shortly be communicating out detail of our week long Summer School in August.
