School Council Elections
Foundation School students at Leeds East Academy have just completed the process of electing their School Council for this academic year. The School Council plays a major part in the Academy; students and staff value the progressive decisions and impact its dedicated team of students make in school life.
Students from across the Foundation School were invited to apply for a seat on the School Council. The school received over 60 applications from both Year 7 and Year 8 students, which made it very difficult to shortlist. Students then voted for the candidates they wished to represent them.
The School Council election process links directly into Leeds East Academy's work with students on British Values, with a focus on Democracy. Our students understand the complexities of the election process in the UK and use this knowledge practically when voting for their own School Council.
Congratulations to Layla, Elissia, Dilon and Georgia who are the Foundation School Council team for this academic year.
