SCITT Training at LEA
As part of their ongoing training with us, our SCITTs attended Year 7 parents’ evening. Timely and effective communication with home is so important for us at LEA and we were delighted to welcome 112 families into the Academy on a wet and windy night. For all teachers, but especially our SCITTs, it was an invaluable opportunity to deliver wave 1 messages directly to parents and carers about the progress of their children.
Our English trainee, Gemma Talbot (whom we are delighted to have employed for next academic year!) has the following to say "It was a great experience for me to be part of parents' evening. I was very grateful to get the chance to speak to the parents of my students, especially as the comments were so very positive. It was a very valuable evening that I reallyenjoyed.
"From day one at Leeds East Academy I have felt very welcome by all staff, especially in the English department. I have been supported whenever I have asked or needed it and have never felt uncomfortable approaching a member of staff to ask for help. I have greatly enjoyed my entire time here, the school as a whole is incredible.
"I have been blown away by the commitment of the staff, and have really enjoyed my time getting to know the students, who are also incredible. I feel as though I have had the support and room to grow as a teacher myself and I am very happy with the progress I have made whilst being a part of this school and community. It has also been very special for me to be here while the school itself has been on a journey to Good, and now to Outstanding. I am so pleased and excited to be starting at the school as an official member of staff."
We wish Gemma every success as she completes her final placement with us and we look forward to welcoming her back into the LEA fold in September!!
