Leeds East Academy

Rehearsals are rocking for this year's  school show

Performance dates: 1st-3rd May

The cast and band for School of Rock are right in the thick of it, rehearsing after school to ensure this year's production is better than ever.

Based on the film of the same name, School of Rock—The Musical tells the story of wannabe rock star Dewey Finn, who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. When he discovers his students’ musical talents, he enlists his fifth-graders to form a rock group and conquer the Battle of the Bands.

In keeping with the show, our own 'Dewey' Daniel in Year 9 has not only been learning the guitar parts for his lead role, he has also been teaching other cast members such as Chloe (Freddy on drums) and Vlad (Zack on guitar) how to develop their playing skills.

Playing the class 'goody-two-shoes' Summer Hathaway, Paris in Year 9 said “It's a fun musical and I love that I have gotten to improve my singing and acting. It's also great playing Summer because I get to boss everyone around!”

Mrs Spencer-Matthews said: “Not only do students have to act, sing and dance, this year our lead performers are playing instruments live on stage. Mr Robinson and I are absolutely blown away by the talents of our fabulous students.”

We know that this half term at Leeds East Academy everyone will be rocking to the top of Mount Rock!
