Principal's Update: Summer Term
An exciting term ahead for LEA
Following the Easter break I am delighted to welcome our pupils back to Leeds East Academy for the start of the Summer term. When reflecting over the course of the year it always amazes me how quickly the academic year passes and that the start of the Summer term means that there are only approximately 13 weeks of learning left until we break up for the August holiday. This is why fully utilising the time remaining is vital and it is important that all pupils are present in school, making the most of the learning time available to them. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to remind you of the academy expectations in relation to:
Attendance and punctuality
The academy attendance target is 97% and it is greatly important that you support your child with achieving this by sending them to school every single day. Just to reiterate again there are substantial links between low achievement and low attendance and I am sure you will wish, as we do, that your child is successful in everything they do.
At Leeds East Academy the attendance team are passionate about ensuring every single one of our students are successful and work tirelessly to secure good commitment from all of our pupils. I would ask that you support us by regularly discussing with your child why good attendance is important and the impact poor attendance can have on their future prospects.
I would also like to remind you that the school day commences at 8.30am and school is open from 8.15am for pupils to have breakfast. Again, please ensure that your child is on time for school by making sure they get a good night's sleep and set their alarm clock allowing ample time for travel to school. Punctuality is one of our academy core values and is vital to success not only in school but also in their future career.
This half term is shaping up to be an exciting and eventful one as Leeds East Academy is on the cusp of achieving something remarkable. Our Year 11 pupils are set to achieve record breaking results for the school this year and your support is crucial to us securing a fantastic education for your child currently and in future years as this will open the door for them to achieve their own dreams and ambitions. I thank you as ever for your continued support and look forward to working in partnership with you to secure not only outstanding but world class status for Leeds East Academy.
