Ofsted - Making our Way Forward
As you will be aware, this week we welcomed Her Majesty’s Ofsted Inspectors for a two-day assessment of the Academy. Ofsted is responsible for inspecting a range of educational institutions and provides an independent assessment of the quality and standards of teaching and learning, whilst also reviewing the achievement and progress of students in our care.
Throughout the two-day inspection, students conducted themselves immaculately and represented Leeds East Academy and the wider community with impeccable courtesy and maturity. I am incredibly proud of how our young people demonstrated exceptional manners when speaking with Inspectors, who commented on the politeness of students and how well they behaved in lessons, at break and during lunch times.
In addition to the inspection, Year 11 has continued to be highly engaged in a number of GCSE examinations and have been diligently preparing themselves through revision in school and out. The ambition and resilience which Year 11 have been demonstrating has been inspirational and I am delighted that students are committed to working with teachers to ensure they secure the best possible outcomes this summer.
Attendance remains a key element for student success as we head into summer and I am pleased to announce that tickets have been booked for the end of year reward trip to Flamingo Land. I’m thrilled that more than half of the school is currently eligible to attend this event. Remember; any students currently ineligible will still be able to join the trip if their attendance is above 98% for the final term of the school year, so I hope students will continue to maintain their attendance to secure a place. We have come a long way as a school community since September, working together to create a new school which offers unmatched support and endless opportunities for young people. This is a collaborative effort between students, staff and the local community. As such, I wish to thank parents for taking the time to submit their views to the Ofsted Parent View Survey and I look forward to sharing Ofsted’s complete findings with you soon.
In the meantime, I wish you all a very relaxing Bank Holiday weekend.
